"From Green Lease to ESG Lease": gif Competence Group ESG proud of the New ZIA Handbook

In 2024, the new handbook of the Zentraler Immobilien Ausschuss e.V. (ZIA) was released: "Green Lease 2.0 – From Green Lease to ESG Lease". Led by Tim Oberschelp and Sultan Bostan, Melanie Leypoldt and Lydia Larsen, as members of the gif Competence Group ESG, also contributed to the development of the handbook.

"... after the publication of the 'Green Lease' in 2018, a comprehensive process was initiated to compile new 'Best Practices' and current legal developments to enable sustainable and environmentally-friendly use of commercial properties through contemporary contract design," writes ZIA on its website.

As part of the gif Competence Group ESG, both of our colleagues were involved in the creation of the handbook as part of an interdisciplinary team.

What does the gif Competence Group ESG do?

The ESG Competence Group is one of the specialized groups of the Society for Property Economic Research e.V. (gif). It evolved from the Green Lease project group and will now operate as an independent group within gif under the name ESG, further expanding its scope beyond the "green lease" concept.

The platform addresses all ESG-related topics relevant to the real estate industry and aims to assist market participants by providing guidance and support for implementing ESG aspects.

For interested parties: The handbook is available for free download on the ZIA website.
