Gesamtschule Essen-Altenessen: MorgenGrün Integrates Sustainability from the Start – For Future-Proof Planning Across the Entire Lifecycle

Schools as Pioneers of Energy Efficiency in Focus on WDR "Quarks":
In German schools, a significant amount of energy is wasted daily – and with it, money. The science format "Quarks – Science and More" on WDR 5 showcases examples from Essen and Marburg, demonstrating how school buildings can be designed to be energy-efficient.

The city of Essen sets a great example: instead of settling for the legal minimum standards, the city has consciously chosen to build a school complex that goes well beyond the requirements in terms of energy optimization. This innovative school project is based on a holistic view of the buildings and is powered 100% by renewable energy.

MorgenGrün's Contributions

"Quarks" features this ambitious project, in which MorgenGrün played a key role from the very beginning. Our team developed the tailored energy concept, achieved the sustainability certification, and provided funding consulting. Additionally, we supported the project extensively with our expertise in building physics.

This school project sets new standards for energy-efficient construction and demonstrates how innovative concepts can sustainably transform the future of educational buildings.
